By forging bonds with your followers and facign hardships together, you and your allies can awaken the power of Archetypes, - heroic embodiments that allow you to assume the forms of various heroes and wield their skills in battle.

Each leg of your journey features a main dungeon, which you must conquer within a certain time limit. Side deungeons allow you to tackle optional quests that will let you level up your party and find equipment and treasure. Be careful though, as untold dangers can lurk within!

Metaphor: ReFantazio utilizes the fast battles and squad-oriented combat to merge together the best elements of turn-based and action-centric gameplay. Fast Battles allow you to quickly take down lower level foes, while Squad Battles let you approach battles strategically with you full party.
